Responsible Business

"Responsible behaviour is not only central to our licence to operation; it also fully supports our strategy for growth."

It has been a tough year with the global recession affecting our core betting and gaming markets. I am pleased to say that this hasn't compromised the quality of our offering or the standards we work to across the business.

We have won a number of awards, most notably for our human resources practice. We are now leading our sector in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes and PricewaterhouseCoopers has recognised the quality of our sustainability reporting. It is great to get such external validation of our CR initiatives and this convinces me that we are on the right path.

This year we have led some key initiatives in safety and security, have launched new staff development and reward programmes and have made great strides in setting environmental targets. All of these are described further in our CR report.

Overall our progress has been good and I am proud of all our employees, without whom this wouldn't be possible.
